Why China Is a Key Source of the 2026 Toyota Prado Hybrid
Local production, an all-hybrid line-up and a wide trim range make China a practical source for the new Prado. Here's what that means for importers.

China is a practical source for the new Prado because the LC250 is built there locally by FAW Toyota, and every China-market version is a hybrid. That gives importers a steady supply of current-model, left-hand-drive Prado hybrids in a wide range of trims.
Is the Prado built in China?
Yes. FAW Toyota, Toyota's joint venture with FAW Group, produces the LC250 Prado for the Chinese market. The model went on sale in China for the 2024 model year, followed by the 2025 and 2026 model years.
Why is every China-market Prado a hybrid?
In China, the LC250 Prado is offered with one powertrain across all trims: the 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, for 243 kW (330 PS) and 630 N·m. If your customers want a Prado hybrid specifically, sourcing from China means every unit already has it.
What trims can importers choose from?
The 2026 model year is offered in six configurations — BX, TX, WALD Edition, WX five-seat, WX six-seat and VX — giving importers options from fleet-focused to premium. See the 2026 Prado configurations.
What should importers check?
- Specification: China-market vehicles are certified for China. Confirm the conformity route in your country before ordering.
- Steering: the China-market Prado is left-hand drive only.
- Documentation: make sure your broker knows which documents you will receive.
- Model year: the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Prado share the same hybrid powertrain, so a mix can widen availability.
New or used?
Alongside new 2026 and 2025 units, the 2024 Prado is available as an inspected used vehicle — the same LC250 hybrid at a lower price point. Our guide to new vs used Prado exports explains how to choose.
